Do record collections tell a story?

Updated: Oct 15

Rarely does buying a record collection involve just a record collection. They often turn out to be more than that.

A few weeks ago a customer contacted us via our website as they wanted to sell their vinyl record collection and were keen to find the right future home for their records. After forwarding home details, the next day we visited  them to view, and make an offer.

Within their home was a lovingly curated and stored Rockabilly and Rock n Roll Collection. A reflection of personal tastes and interest, it was a slice of musical and cultural history. Each record meticulously stored, labelled and curated.

Though it was hard for the owner to recall where it was bought and the price paid, they could still remember the time the record entered their life, where they were, who they were with, why they bought it. We discussed rock n roll over cups of tea and his daughter joked about how she can still recall her father putting the record on in the house.

A collection put together by one person is a chronicle of a life. It’s a diary spanning decades

If you have a record collection you would like to sell and would like to share your story of how you acquired them, what they mean, and where you would like them to go, then please contact us.
